3-2-1- BLAST OFF! Room 14's Rocket Launch

Room 14 had our own stall at the Science Fair . Our experiment was called Rocket Launch .

Have you ever noticed what happens if you let the air out of a balloon? The air goes one way and the balloon moves the other. Rockets work in much the same way . Gases coming out of the engine push the rocket forward. We made our own rockets using balloons, straws, string and sellotape.

We put a string through a drinking straw and tied the two ends of the string to stools to pull it tight.
We blew up a long balloon using a balloon pump.
We kept the air in the balloon using a clothes peg.
We used sellotape to attach the balloon to the side of a straw.

We took off the peg to let the air fly out of the balloon, pushing it forward along the string.
One- Two- Three- Blast Off !
